Goth outfit inspiration: Nancy in The Craft

One of the most important movies in high school for me was The Craft with Fairuza Balk. Nancy was loved by many. She embodied the rebellion in many of us and we kind of rooted for her in that film despite her mean and crazy ways and she was fun to watch.  The girls in that film were brave, fierce and fashion forward. If there was anything that film taught us it was good triumphs over evil and we need not overuse power and to be thankful for the natural gifts we have. Many years later we still find the influence of that 90s film in many of our clothing items that we style, our makeup, our attitudes. Gotta admit when the going gets rough some of us have a little snarky, tough Nancy in us that we gravitate towards to fight on.

Beetlejuice DIY hand stitched patch sweater

I love hand stitching and get great pleasure from making and reworking my own items. I recently found this awesome striped piece that was perfect for my Beetlejuice patch. I have such a love for all things Tim Burton as is very apparent with my themed tattooed sleeve. I enjoy doing DIY so much and I love sharing it with you all.  I put it on my shop: Winter's Store Envy

90s outfit inspirations

"I am Doll Parts"....

Growing up in the 90's I was always fascinated by the music, style and pe
ople. Here I highlight some of my favorite inspirations from the 90s. At some point I would like to do an all goth 90s characters post. I will start putting one together with fun outfits. This post though I focused on grunge, grunge rock, indie, ska etc. From Courtney and Kurt to Gwen Stefani. Enjoy!

Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain.
Dress, Courtney Love collection from Nasty Gal. Shoes, Converse. Glasses, ebay. Faux fur coat,
Forever 21. Striped tee, H&M.
Gwen Stefani
If you were a child of the 90s you most likely knew a Gwenebee or two haha. Gwen rocked her eclectic rock style really good back then. Throw on some track pants and a tank top and pair with red lipstick for a cool throwback No Doubt outfit.
Shoes: Vans, Skirt, ebay. Tank top, Forever 21.

Who can forget the Anarchist cheerleaders in Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit music vid that embodied the rebellion and attitudes in teens like me and others at the time.
Anarchy tank top, Etsy.
Skirt, Forever 21.
Pom Poms, Amazon.

Sometimes I like to pretend I worked there.... lol

Twin Peaks pop up in L.A.

If the RR diner Twin Peaks pop up comes to your town and you haven't experienced it, you really should. I read about it briefly and happened to be in L.A. the time that it happened. I was so incredibly stoked and there was a young man there who bought me an owl/log lady themed key chain. Thank you to whoever that was. So sweet and kind. I will keep it always with me. I love the energy in L.A. bustling, fun, exciting, beautiful multi cultural atmosphere. The highlight of my night was meeting Adele Rene' and other actors and actresses in season 3 of Twin Peaks. Adele Rene' played the sergeant. They were all so grateful and kind. They thanked us for being there. Adele complimented my outfit. She was so lovely and sweet to take a photo with me. They had the outfits from some of the characters there for sale. I ended up getting a fun bag, a lunch box and some David Lynch coffee beans. This made my year. If you are a hardcore Twin Peaks fan like me I feel you will enjoy this. I can't wait to make some vegan cherry pie and have some of that coffee!!

Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks has always held a special place in my strange heart. Spooky, fascinating and trippy, David Lynch's iconic masterpiece is getting a comeback this April so naturally I had to pay homage to this brilliant director and awesome series. If you were anything like me you might have had a crush on agent Dale Cooper. This series had such an effect on me in the 90's. I'd rush home to watch the series whenever I could. From the sexual, eerie undertones of Audrey Horne to the kooky log lady and many other characters, Twin Peaks will always be one of my favorites. I love Lynch's other works like Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet and Lost Highway. I own all of those plus Eraserhad and others but I decided to do a fun cosplay series of a few of my favorite characters on Twin Peaks: Dale Cooper, Audrey Horne and Log Lady. The show is  a way to this goth girl's heart and yes I did have a damn fine cup of coffee whilst shooting these stills. I hope you enjoy!
