Book of Night by Holly Black review

This is such a fun read! if you like dark stories with cool twists you will like this one. The main character Charlie Hall has spent most of her life working for gloamists who are magicians who manipulate shadows. A lot of her past follows her and it is exciting to see all the danger she gets into and if she is able to escape it. Very gripping and exciting read. I recommend. I love Holly Black. I have read a few of her other novels such as the coldest girl in cold down which was one I really enjoyed.

Neil Gaiman: The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains

Neil Gaiman is my favorite author of all time as many of you know so I was elated to have the privilege of seeing him again recently. We met up with friends in San Francisco and we watched Neil Gaiman speak and also read his book The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains to a string quartet. It was one of the most magical experiences I ever had. So beautiful and perfect in every way. I love the dark beauty to his writing. It literally transports me to a different place. It was wonderful because they had the art work images on a large screen while the music was playing and Neil read. Afterwards we were extremely lucky to have him welcome his illustrator for the book, Eddie Campbell out on stage. It was a pleasant surprise and I was so happy to be there. Truly a magical evening.

Fantasy Faire 2014

We made our way to the Fantasy Faire this year in San Jose. We had such a great time. I hope you guys can come and check it out if you are in the Bay Area. My favorite were the dragons and fairies and these awesome booths with really cool felt fantasy characters and another one that had amazing gothic, steampunk and whimsical jewelry.

Harry Potter WB studio tour

My husband and I went to the Harry Potter studio tour. I wore my new gothic dragon corset sweatshirt and brought my satchel to stash my camera and take pics. It was the most surreal and amazing thing I could ever have imagined. Words cannot describe how beautiful and amazing it was. For Harry Potter fans this is a must. It is the most magical place and it was so cool to catch a glimpse of how much work and time went into this. My favorite parts were Diagon Alley, taking pics inside the blue car and getting to see all of the amazing  props.
