The Picture of Dorian Gray review

This is such a fun, classic, gothic novel. The Picture of Dorian Gray has lovely imagery and imaginative language. Oscar Wilde did a great job at painting a spooky and eloquent picture of a man gone mad after corrupting his soul. It tells a tale of what can happen to a person if they sell their soul for pleasure, corruption and youth. Almost vampiric in nature, The Picture of Dorian Gray shows Dorian almost draining any goodness he had by his hedonistic, selfish and cruel tendencies. The story of a young, beautiful man painted by an artist who longs to stay young and exquisite looking forever while his painting decays, rots and bares the scars of the wickedness that is in his soul. I definitely recommend this gothic classic for anyone that loves a good, spooky read. The floral print cover was so lovely I had to have it. I found this one on Amazon for those who are interested but I am sure they have some on ebay as well.  It was the perfect read to ring in the New Year. There are several huge changes that I am making. Some things have died away while others have bloomed. I cant wait to see what happens in the future and am excited for what is to come. I hope the year sees all of you well and with that I shall go and read my next novel. See you in February!

Cool spooky finds at Hot Topic

Popped into Hot Topic outlet in Pismo recently with my boyfriend to check out the spooky finds. They have a super fun horror section this year. I picked up some horror movie themed lingerie and saw this badass Death Note shirt. If you have never read the comics or seen the movies go do so. They are really fun. I love Halloween time because all the spooky stuff comes out in shops.

Thrillers/June reading: Sometimes I lie and Neverworld Wake

I am reading 4 books for June but I wanted to focus on these two because they are thrillers. I will be posting reviews and discussions on my youtube channel: Eternal Wynter so please check them out there. Are you reading anything fun this Summer? I love adult fiction and also young adult fiction. Nothing wrong with YA and Neverworld Wake is fantastic so far! It deals with the main character Beatrice and her group of friends who get stuck in a place called Neverworld after a car accident. A world they are not able to get out of and deals with the disappearance and mystery of their friend Jim. The story kept me on the edge of my seat so far and I can't wait to finish it. I definitely recommend this book. Sometimes I lie is a fun crazy story told through the eyes of a woman in a coma who can hear everything around her. There are twists, turns and surprises at the ending that most will not see coming. It is really fun and I hold a discussion on my youtube channel if you want to chime in and give your opinions, questions or answers. What are you guys reading this summer?

Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein

This past weekend I attended the Frankestein film festival at Stanford movie theater in Palo Alto California. If you get a chance to check out that old theater you should. We stayed at the historic Cardinal hotel which was old Spanish style 1920's and had really cool old elevators.

Frankenstein

It's that time of year again. I love going to see the Frankenstein movies at the old Stanford movie theater in Palo Alto, Ca. (My hometown) If you haven't seen the old versions you really should check them out. There is something so incredibly magical about old films.

My new Silence of the Lambs Death Moth tattoo by Jared Thinger

Jared Thinger is my tattoo artist located in Grover Beach, Ca is amazing. He did this beautiful Death Moth tattoo inspired by Silence of the Lambs. I have always wanted to get a tribute to that movie and I juxtaposed it with my Lord of the Rings sleeve. I love his amazing black and gray work and realism plus he does amazing color as well. I will put a link to him below.

He did my Lord of the Rings evenstar and elvish script on my lower inner arm.

My latest goth diy projects

Lately I have been wanting to do some new DIY projects with my worn faux leather jacket and my old tights. My jacket was becoming quite old but I wasn't ready to get rid of it because I like wearing clothes until they are completely word apart. I got some paint and decided to recreate the 80's goth club, Batcave logo on my jacket. I drew some spider web design on the front collar and safety pinned some cool horror patches on the bottom along with attaching my skeleton hand hair clip and sticker.

With my tights I wanted to create some simple arm warmers/gloves so I measured and cut then cut off the waist band so as not to waste the fabric and it made for a lovely little neck warmer (not pictured here) I also cut tiny thumbholes for my thumbs. I hope you enjoy these and it gives you some cool ideas. Don't worry about having a stencil for your painting if you don't have one. I didn't have one. I painted mine free handed and it got rave reviews. Enjoy and happy DIY-ing :D

Horror in Seattle

They had another really amazing exhibit "Cant look away, the Lure of Horror film"  that will be right up some goth's alleys. Horror movies, cinema, characters and other fun things. I liked this exhibit a lot. My favorite pieces of course were the Aliens and Blair Witch.  Check it out!
