Makeup Review: Lime Crime's Venus: The Grunge Palette

Love love love this. The colors are amazing blended in and compliment my goth attire perfectly. I wanted a change from my usual black and red or dark blue shades. It is important to me that makeup is not tested on animals so Lime Crime is perfect for me. I love their styles and shades. I can't wait to check out more of their makeup.

Meeting Game of Thrones Linguist David J Peterson at Books Inc

Friends and I came out to see David J Peterson speak. He is the incredible linguist who created the languages of "Dothraki" and "Valyrian" from Game of Thrones. Meeting him was so much fun. He is incredibly cool and fun to talk to. I can't wait to see the next season.

Fun idea for fall: A book swap

Clothing swaps are fun but have you ever tried a book swap? My friends and I like to have these every once in a while. We get together and swap our favorite books for keeps over coffee and have discussions about books and authors we love. I suggested Neil Gaiman and Francesca Lia Block among a few others to my friends.

Autumn is here

This autumn I bought some new spell and crystal books and found myself taking many hikes, having fall picnics under the trees. Looking at Brian Froud books over warm coffee and tea, picking up maple leaves to decorate my hearth and spending time with loved ones. What do you enjoy doing in autumn? What rituals, spells, mediations or prayers do you like to do? Fall equinox and everything that follows are the most comforting times for me and my family and friends. I love reading and talking about old Nordic tales. I love the rain, the thunder and the cool air that brushes against my cheeks, the wet ground beneath my feet. I am definitely a Winter and Autumn person. I hope you all have a wonderful fall and winter season and celebrate holidays if you do so no matter what your faith. I enjoy celebrating equinoxes, sabbats and other holidays since I have family of many faiths. My favorite things that I connect to are to celebrate the Norse viking rituals and festivals.  This year for Harvest season we put acorn squash, apples, leaves and candles on our altar along with one of my beautiful mjolnirs and said some prayers for protection and such. I wished for rain as well since we need that very badly and I also just asked a blessing for my husband and friends. I love celebrating Winternights and all the beautiful things to come. I have spent a lot of time in the woods lately.

Prince Lestat

On my reading list for a while. I am so excited to dive into this.

Art and Tea

My good friend showed us a really cool art gallery down town San Jose the other day. I loved it. There were quite a few gothic style pieces there and some really cool mini houses. It was fun to hang out with all our friends and spend some time chatting, shopping and grabbing tea and coffee. Later after a few people left I grabbed a lovely dinner at a delicious vegan place called Good Karma. I have been going to Good Karma for quite a few years now. If you are down that way, check it out.

Bridge School Benefit show

I went with friends to the Bridge School Benefit show. It was awesome. I really enjoyed seeing Florence and the Machine for the first time plus there were a lot of other bands. Florence is amazing and her voice is so ethereal. It is moving and takes you to a different place.  I was stoked to see great bands for a great cause. If you live near Bay Area you should check the Bridge School Benefit out next year. My favorite moment of the evening was when Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell sang together. Throwback to Temple of the Dog  days. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden's performances are always amazing but this was very magical. I am so excited to see them again in the future. I have seen both bands several times before.
